His fight was noble, he tried to maintain his dignity in light of losing his sovereignty. I thank my family (on my side the family) for being there for him, and Gustavo for being a true friend and for taking care of him like one of us.
Finally, I would like to thank María do Céu for being by his side until the end. "She was his true friend and companion."
With this brief text, João Marcelo communicated from the United States to the world the death of his father João Gilberto .
I also remember the global repercussion in the world of the Arts of the death of João Gilberto . That day, the news from different countries echoed the sad news: "João Gilberto, the creator of Bossa Nova, has died in Rio de Janeiro at the age of 88"...!
There were also many of us who were at his wake at the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro on the 8th to symbolically thank him for his magical contribution to Brazilian and world music.
It was very exciting to sing for him as a farewell " Chega de Saudade ", the song that started it all...
